OK.........So I have to confess (and I'm a little bit embarrassed to admit it), but I've honestly never cared very much before in the past about the Presidential Elections. I have to confess that I don't ever think I've actually sat down and listened to a Presidential Debate before now...........and voting hasn't been a huge priority for me, either.
Last night, though, I actually sat down and watched the Presidential Debate between Senators John McCain and Barrack Obama................and I was really bothered for much of the campaign!! I really worry what this country is coming to these days when the people who are leading our country can't seem to get along and are actually quite vicious in their pursuits for the Presidential Seat!! I was really bugged listening to the 2 of them go back and forth, saying some pretty ugly things about each other a few times. And there were a few times that I was completely confused in what one or both of them stood for on certain issues that were brought up.
I know that the subject of politics can be quite a hot subject to bring up. But I'm really interested in hearing what all of you who are following my blog really think and feel about this subject! Please share your thoughts with me................
Like I said, I've paid more attention to this race between the candidates in the last few months, year, etc, than I've ever paid attention in my life. I don't know..............maybe it's my old age or something! :) Either way, I was really confused after I watched the debate last night. How do you choose between 2 men who want to lead our country when you're really not very sure about either one!? I guess you just have to pick the 'lesser of 2 evils', huh? And just pray that he'll do a decent job of leading our country..................Heaven help us!

When it comes time for you to vote, there is a little box for a "write-in" candidate...put Ross Perot I am in the same boat, it could really go either way at this point, and we are still headed for a depression! Both financially and mentally!
Ok, this is where I will comment. Politics is a hot issue for me, so bear with me. This is my two cents worth. People are so worried about the economy. My worry is about the lack of morals and dishonesty in politics and in general. If you want to see our country get worse, economically, socially, morally, then the economy isn't the issue here. If we allow abortion, gay marriage, tax increases and all of that stuff, we're headed for a disaster that the either one of those two who are running will be able to fix. That's my two cents. Thanks for letting me vent. If I were you, I wouldn't throw my vote away on either of them. Chuck Baldwin. If you go to each candidates website and read their platforms, you may understand better what they stand for and you can decide if that's what you stand for.
Okay Darla, I just have to say that you really need to pray and research on your own about the subject. I really think that you can't be a fence sitter any more you have to vote and know what you are voting for. I would advise going to a few reputable websites and checking it out. Try www.ontheissues.org. Please, Please, Please be responsible for your freedoms and vote responsibly. I won't tell you who to vote for but I will give you my opinion through email and not on a blog. Or if you would like to call me I still have my Idaho cell phone #.
Hey, I'm a little late commenting on this, but I do sympathize with your plight. Honestly, It takes a certain kind of person to want to lead one of the most powerful countries in the world and they aren't usually the ones we want running it. With that said, I have to trust my instincts. You can read up on the issues and listen to debates, which is good and you should, but people are going to say what they think you want to here. Just because they say one thing doesn't mean it'll actually happen in office. So I try to look at their character. I look at their motives. I look at their intentions. And then I have to trust that that person will stand up for what they believe in when the time comes. That's really the best we can do. See you on Saturday.
Darla,
I didn't mean to go off on a rant about who you should vote for. I guess I was just trying to let you know that you have more than two options. You don't have to vote for the lesser of two evils if that's what you feel like you're doing. Like Janice said, if you study and pray about the issues and look at all your options, not just the two you see on TV, you will figure it out.
I sooo agree! I hate how they are resorting to attacks to win the election. It isn't fair to the American people cause some people actually believe this nonsense (like that Barack Obama is a muslim/terrorist/arab) and the sad thing is those people are the ones who vote. I feel uncomfortable with the attacks and when they would just go on about the other one I would roll my eyes and wish they would tell me how the heck we are going to be able to get out of all of this mess we have got in.
I know how you feel. It can all be overwhelming. I think it is better to vote for a party and not necessarily for the person. I look at what the party stands for compaired to my beliefs and vote for the party. Hoping that the individual will stick with what that party represents.
From all that I have heard and read Obama is bad news. He has fanatical friends, socialistic views, and is a big mystery. He is for abortion, gay rights, against the death penalty, and pretty much opposite from anything that I stand for, or that our Church stands for.
I get the feeling that there are a lot of people right now that just dont like republicans. At this point they would elect the devil himself, just as long as its not a republican. That is a very scary way to vote. They might not like what has happened over the past few years, but electing some radical, who just happens to be a democrate is not the way to go.
Sorry, just needed to vent a little. I would just really recommend doing your research and praying about it. Don't elect anyone who doesnt stand for the same things that you do. Moral issues I think are more important than anything else, so vote for a party that has the same veiws.
Sorry, I have to ad. I think it would be a big mistake to vote for someone other than the two main candidates, it really would be a wasted vote. The election comes down to 2 people, Obama or McCain, on one else will even come close so don't waste a vote by selecting someone that doesnt have a chance.
