Mazatlan, Mexico (1)

Wednesday, February 3, 2010: Our next stop on our cruise was in Mazatlan, Mexico. Mazatlan was quite a bit more commercialized and 'upscale' from Cabo San Lucas. While I enjoyed Cabo....I actually liked Mazatlan a little bit better. Anyway, so here are some pictures from that day......and there are still more to come! :)

These first few pictures were taken as we were pulling into harbor that morning and docking.

This picture was taken while we were still on the ship...we hadn't left yet. But when we did...this is actually where we ended up.

Like I've said in earlier posts....I love those ports where the towns and villages seem to go up the hillside. It just looks really cool to me! :)Matt and I in Mazatlan. Every place that we go, we usually like to pick one of the ports NOT to do an excursion on....usually one that is supposed to be most 'interesting' or historic. We picked Mazatlan this time and we were glad we did! 2 other couples (the Berg's & the Cardon's) joined Matt and I that day. Instead of choosing an excursion while were were still on the ship, we chose to get off the ship and find someone to give us a tour of the island. So far, it's always worked out really well for us. We ended up taking a Trolley Tour.....and it was a lot of fun!! We were really glad that the Berg's and the Cardon's decided to join us as well. We had a BLAST with them!! Such great people.....

These pictures were taken from our first stop on the Trolley Tour. It was just kind of a very small outdoor 'market' of sorts where you could buy souvenirs, etc.

The 2nd ship in the distance is actually the Mariner of the Seas....which is the one we were cruising on.

This was a really cool looking cannon that sat on a wall overlooking the water.

This guy was sitting in that little 'market' painting all of these decorative plates. He was really quite good! There were some beautiful ones!

These next pictures were taken all along the tour.

There were LOTS of statues placed all along the way as we walked by the water.

I love the ocean....so beautiful!

These next few pictures are of a couple of brothers that live there and cliff dive for a living. This is how they feed their families. It was quite interesting...even a little scary...watching them. They 'perform' these dives every 1/2 hour or so and then people leave them tips.
